I would like to know the technical side a cell phone uses in order to send a text (sms) message.
I already know how Blackberry Devices send message so I was curious as to if it was basically the same path?

Hi, I’m going to Japan, and I’m going to keep my mobile on just in case although I won’t use it. My phone should work in Japan. Most of my friends know that I will be away so they won’t ring or text me but if somebody texts me or rings me, what would the cost be on receiving phone call or receiving text message? Of course safest thing to do is to switch off completely, but would be nice to know the cost. Thank you!
UK phones don’t work in Japan at all unless they’re those 4G things. 2 for the US, 1 for Europe, and the other for Japan (and Korea too I believe.)

Look a bit further down and you’ll read this, * You cannot use an Orange single/dual/tri/quad band phone on this network, but you may rent a 3G phone for this network whilst visiting the country and use it with your Orange SIM card.
So you have to rent a phone in Japan. Still your own phone won’t work, and that’s the bottom line.
I’ve been texting my friend a lot lately. But sometimes, she says she wouldn’t receive my texts. Other times, i would send her a text at like 6:00 pm and she would receive the text message at like 4:30 am the next day. Why does that happen and what can i do to send faster?
turn your phone off for abt 10 min then turn it back on. dont over charge it. and if it still dosent work go to ur carrier they will tell u wats wrong and if u hav the warranty they will give u a new one for free
So far I’ve had my RAZR 2 for about 5 days now and I absolutely love it. However, I’ve been having a problem setting tones and alerts.
I want to set one custom tone for text messages, however, because I have a different ringtone for different caller groups, whenever someone texts me, that person’s caller group ringtone ends up being their text tone as well.
Does anyone know how I can set one text message tone regardless of their ringtone?

I know how to set the ringtones, but the problem is that it uses the caller’s personal RINGTONE I set for them rather than the MESSAGE TONE I set for everyone. Any suggestions?

do one thing.. try to send an sms to your own mobil and when you receive the message you will even get the contact number of yahoo to which you need to reply… send this number through mail or by an SMS from your mobile to your wife asking her to reply to that number and the problem is solved. It would be some 5-6 digit number.. All the best
